Here grows the cure of all, this fruit divine,
Fair to the eye, inviting to the taste,
Of virtue to make wise; what hinders then
To reach, and feed at once both body and mind?
So saying, her rash hand in evil hour
Forth reaching to the fruit, she pluck’d, she eat.
John Milton, Paradise Lost, Book IX, lines 776-782
We all eat from the fruit, whether or not we stem from Adam and Eve. The lesson is one of Original Sin, and that’s what makes the need to reconcile our Souls so important. That’s probably the subconscious impulse behind why I write about it – to realign the Self with what matters most i.e. taking good care of it.
