From a Series of Nudes

Abstracted Nudes:

Inspired by the abysmal depths of charcoal, plunged into the chaotic and abstracted view of the body. The texture allows for a thought-provoking insight into psyche, regardless of model, pose, or setting.

Drawings: Black charcoal (primary), pencil and crayon (secondary) on A2 Paper (42.0 x 59.4cm).

Lover’s Kiss

Lover’s Kiss:

Drawing: Black charcoal (primary) and pencil (secondary) on A2 Paper (42.0 x 59.4cm).

In this abstract art-work depicting a lover’s kiss, I played with the medium of large strokes using a charcoal stick, and in just a few sweeps the figure was created. Internally, I was wrought with emotional tension, a highly charged negative energy, and expressed this directly onto the paper, turning those feelings into something momentarily positive – the spontaneous passion of romance. However, judging by the patterns of this image, there will be serious repercussions.

From a Series on Purgatory

From a series on Purgatory:

Drawings: Black charcoal (primary), pastel, and pencil (secondary) on A2 Paper (42.0 x 59.4cm).

The inspiration behind this series of charcoal on paper is to use the expressive medium as an outlet for emotional turmoil; figuratively, the torment of the soul as it passes through purgatory and awaits Judgement, wearing the burden of sins with fear.

There are ten art-works in the collection, the first three selected here:
