From a Series of Nudes

Abstracted Nudes:

Inspired by the abysmal depths of charcoal, plunged into the chaotic and abstracted view of the body. The texture allows for a thought-provoking insight into psyche, regardless of model, pose, or setting.

Drawings: Black charcoal (primary), pencil and crayon (secondary) on A2 Paper (42.0 x 59.4cm).

Hommage à Bernard Buffet

Hommage à Bernard Buffet:

Black Ink on A2 Paper (42.0 x 59.4cm).

I once viewed a Bernard Buffet painting on show at a private gallery. I don’t recall the name of the painting, but the expression of a lover’s hug was vivid, captured in striking black oils, giving an instantaneous angst-ridden edge to the pose. I have adopted the riddle here, but in ink and with more focus on the idea of love’s separation, which was a personal experience at the time, having recently abandoned the idea of lasting romance.

From a Series on Anxiety Disorder

From a series on Anxiety Disorder:

Drawings: Crayon and Oil Pastel on A3 Paper (30.3 x 40.6cm).

Inspired by the mental state of anxiety, generalised or specific, but, in turn, offering a delirious view upon a subject. The reality, thematically, comes from the vivid memories of people in distress, of abstracted loneliness, perennial desires, and the culmination of Anxiety. The fast application of pastels is an expression of this pain and disorder; the medium a clear psychological expression of anxiety looming.

There are twenty art-works in the collection, five are selected here:
